NEAR-DEATH PSYCHIC EXPERIENCE
Many people who have been close to death have described similar experiences they had while unconscious. Some spoke of stepping out the body, then returning; others met friends and dead relatives. Dr Robinson says that there is evidence that these experiences have medical explanation. “There is quite convincing evidence that the temporal lobe is the seat of these experiences: they can be isolated to the temporal lobe of the brain.
The blood supply to the temporal lobe is the very end of a major artery which supplies the back part of the brain. It seems as if at the time of the death there is decrease blood supply to the brain…and that is the part that suffers from the lack of blood. And it seems as if the seat of the experience is in the memory more in the temporal lobe. The experience is modified…people who have suffered bereavement might well a dead relative and so on.
